The Debut CD from the Pop Dolls an incredible journey into modern music...
From the start it just drags you in, the 2nd Track To The Good Times Really Blew me Away, I hope they push this to Radio beyond the net as this track belongs on every Alt. Rock station in the world!
Of course all my Favorites are there and sound so much better from the CD than a burned MP3(and the RIAA says MP3s are the same quality :bah Finally we get to hear the finished version of Does She Love You This song really came along way from the tease we got on DMusic. Wow Is all I can say this is a FIVE STAR CD anyway you look at it.
The Pop Dolls Have Created a Modern Sound Melding Punk/Space Rock/Synth pop with Modern Technological sound to Bring us something fresh and new to listen to. Bravo Vince and Barb

Yes yes yes... Very good CD Tracks are all very original in their sound I LOVE the new version of "Haze" It always takes me away to my own world I love your use of synth in all of your songs That's a flavor that adds to the originality to your music This is a shorter CD I thought than normal, but a very listenable one at that. Each track just grabs you in and before you know it...THE CD'S OVER Then you just start it up again But seriously, great album, I will be listening to it a lot

Ok Chicken Little, LISTEN UP! The sky is NOT falling and music is NOT dead! Unfortunately, the big five just forgot what music is. I picked up the new Pop Dolls “Made in Plastic” disc and took it on a recent road trip. The first part of the trip I listened to album two of Zappa’s Joes Garage guided by the central scrutinizer. After a brief interlude for lunch and an energy drink, I popped in the Pop Dolls disc and Wow---- I suddenly realized that the energy drink was not necessary!!!!! Somewhat familiar with their music from Dmusic, I was blown away by the originality of the content on “Made in Plastic”. The Pop Dolls combine elements spanning the past five decades strapped with a jet pack propelling their music far into the future. Dark haunting melodies dressed with deep harmonies and contrasting dissonances interlaced with familiar sounding instruments (like the 60’s organ sound in “Candy Ways”) and sounds I have never heard even in my wildest dreams (Texas Rocks). This is NOT your standard RIAA piece of crap with only one good song and the rest filler. Every song on this album has a place in the journey, they way albums used to be made. Right off the bat, the melodic darkness fills my car with “Magazines” and it demands---“will you give us your attention”! Then into “To the Good Times” with some really WILD sounds! My personal opinion is that the collection rises quickly to an early peak at track three (Levitation). “Levitation” raises the bar SO high that the momentum is held throughout the rest of the disc. “Ok Already” is a hypnotic number with a slightly tormented story line combined with poignant and mysterious harmonies/ counter melodies, it fittingly leads the way to track 5! “Does She love You” , an early 90’s style love song IMO, appears to feed off the previous track on the dark side of unrequited love. Excellent lyrical content in this track and the flanged out guitar sound adds an awesome touch! The groovy near 60’s retro grind of “A Sick Pureness”, only 2 minutes long and the shortest track on the album sets the stage perfectly for “Haze”, that is a tad reminiscent of glorious 80’s and then followed up with “Candy Ways”, one of my favorite tracks! The disc ends with “Texas Rocks” that is a rather odd number almost paying musical homage to the likes of down home Texas Blues rockers, in an odd sort of way. No deberiamos tomar el camino a Texas
Pero los maldtos hombres en Arizona y sus armas Todos se han vuelto locos
“We should not take the way to Texas. But the maldtos men in Arizona and his weapon has driven all crazy”
This album is just downright dangerous to the RIAA. It is so fresh and original that if word spreads, the big five will be holding the bag for all of that crap that inundates our airwaves. It could open the floodgates for other independent artist to take back what is rightfully theirs and once again make popular music listenable to the herded masses. “Made in Plastic” is a mixture of the ordinary and the bizarre, a series of shadowy and menacing melodic journeys told through the voices and instruments of our beloved hosts, The Pop Dolls! The shortest 35 minutes that I have ever spent in a car!

I would definitely have to agree with everyone here and imemine said it well
that this is not your typical riaa flopz. This is real music and it is original ! 1'st of all thank you for this glorious cd. I have been jammin to this all week, and i can't get enough of it. You guys never cease to amaze us with your talent and professionalism. The pics are great, the lyrics, vocals and music astonishing ! You guys are the stars
of today's Modern Pop/Rock !
You definitely have your own style and it is full of so much creativity that we choose not to label it anything other than Pop Dolls ! I love the diverse instrumentation you used and how you used it so perfect !
Today it seems that the mainstream bands are trying too hard to bring the underground sound that you guys have naturally. I love how the guitars, drums, vocals, synths and organs that you use- have a futuristic vintage feeling, and NOT the typical
nin/industrial meets the smiths/radiohead thing that has been happening in the mainstream lately.
YOU GUYS HAVE IT ALL, YOUR OWN STYLE !
That's what is important. While all the modern pop bands out now days are doing the same thing, The Pop Dolls are taking us into the ancient future
of alternative roots while at the same time moving us forward into their own
Pop Doll Planet Culture !
Great Job you guys ! :award: Bravo !

the CD is truly orginal. has a couple of PD favorites as well as many new tracks. the whole PD craze is captured in 35minutes of mod-rock. Like a previous post, I took my CD on the road...but my mode of transportation was by bike instead of car. Needless to say the Dolls had my blood pumping as my iPod blasted track after track. Not your average pop band, the Dolls bring in-yo-face anti-cookie-cutter realism to an otherwise zombie-state genre. This has earned them some of the most loyal fans of any band on DMusic or anywhere for that matter. Be thankful of the Digital Age. If it were up to the powers that be, the PopDolls would never exsist. But thanks to the technology you will find that music is alive and well on PopDoll Planet.

Pop Dolls - Made in Plastic
I've been a fan since I first streamed "Haze" the night Barbie came and said hello to me when I was new around the site.
So when I eventually got the CD I can't say I was disappointed. True to themselves from beginning to end "Made in Plastic" is a great debut CD from one of DM's most popular groups.
Stand out tracks include the ever-impressive "Haze", "Levitation" and "Candy Ways" - but if you like what you have heard on their dmusic page - you really will enjoy every track on the disc

e.Barbarella and Vince.Christian, who record as the Pop Dolls, make a brand of pop music which is deeply informed by, but not at all imitative of, the early 1980s post-punk and post-post-punk bands. Their album "Made in Plastic" features nine appealing tracks of catchy melodies, appealing electronica effects, and two interesting and capable vocalists.
Contrary to many independent releases, the production values here are anything but "lo fi". The Pop Dolls songs depend to some extent on dense, layered mixes which give each song a slight uprooting from its vocal pop moors and sets it on sail on a river of dreams. Samples and effects hover in and out of the fringes of the song, without quite coming to haunt the sound. The lyrics hint at things both dark and light, without descending into gothic cliche.
The lead-off song "Magazines", features a great minor-key riff and a vocal line which counterpoints to some extent against it. If Bauhaus had had more pop in their soul and a great female vocalist, they would have sounded like "Magazines". In "Ok Already" and "Candy Ways", nearly pure pop songs are mixed into sonic melanges which are a pleasure to drink in.
The ambient musician in me appreciated the great samples blended into the fringes of songs. Electronica "whooshes" and effective use of stray vocal samples hover on the edge of each song.
So many bands who work similar areas to that worked by the Pop Dolls come of as homage bands, selling "She Shares Sanctuary" to kids too young to remember less naive times. The Pop Dolls, by contrast, pursue a pop vision with vim and gusto.
I highly recommend "Made in Plastic".
